A Quick DIY Fall Centerpiece

Hello all!  I thought I would quickly share a super easy and very pretty DIY fall centerpiece.  This would be the perfect addition to your Thanksgiving tablescape.  It could not have been easier to make.

What You'll Need:
-1 cake stand (mine is a white, metal one from World Market)
-A variety of fall-colored artificial flowers (I got mine from Michael's)
-Heavy Duty scotch tape (you can really use any tape but make sure it's clear)
-1 Large artificial (or real) pumpkin (mine is from Michael's)

1. First, take the flowers and cut the stems so they are about three-four inches long.  Depending on how large your cake stand is will depend on how short you cut your flowers.  You want to have them long enough to hide under the pumpkin but still hang off of the plate stand slightly.

2. Once all your flowers are cut, start arranging them around the cake stand the way you want them.  I started by spreading out all of the similar flowers around the stand so it was balanced and their was a good variety.  Don't forget to add the leaves as well!  They add a really pretty detail to the stand and break up all of the flowers.

3.  After they are arranged the way you like, start taping the stems directly to the cake stand.  You could hot glue them as well but I wanted to make sure I could reuse the stand once it was finished and wanted to make sure it wasn't damaged.

4.  Lastly, just place your pumpkin on top of the taped flower stems.  The weight of the pumpkin helps to keep everything in place and helps hide all the tape!

Viola!  It's as simple as that!  It took me a total of 15 minutes and it is hands-down my favorite fall centerpiece.  You could mix it up by adding smaller pumpkins in a pile in the middle or perhaps pine cones?  The options are endless!

You can even use it in other parts of your house as well!  I also really like it as a vignette in my kitchen.

Enjoy!

Fall Home Tour

With the Christmas decorating season quickly approaching us, I figured I should post a home tour of the fall decor I have up in my house.  I have to say, fall is by far my favorite season.  It's gorgeous with the changing leaves.  The weather is perfect and it's the kick off to the holiday season.  This year, I decided to change out my red, orange and yellow fall decor for a more neutral look.  I really love how it turned out!  Here are some of my favorites!

To start, I love decorating the porch.  The only thing I don't love about our porch is that you really can't see the porch from the road because we have large bushes that block it.  But, when you walk up to the door, you have a pleasant surprise!  Or at least, I think so.  I sporadically put pumpkins on and around this adorable bench I got at a flea market last year and added some mums.  They are finally blooming and I love the color it brings to the porch.  I added a decal that I bought off of Etsy to an artificial pumpkin so I can use it year after year.  The wreath isn't my favorite but I made it last year and felt that I should reuse it instead of paying for a new one so it will stick around for at least the rest of this year.

When you first walk in the door, you walk directly into our dining room.  We just recently redid this room and I couldn't be happier with how it turned out.  There will be a blog post about that soon!  Basically, I just added some pumpkins on our console table and made this really easy centerpiece with a cake stand, some flowers from Michael's and a neutral pumpkin from Michaels.

This is our living room.  When we moved into our new house, the walls were already painted this really pretty light blue color.  I decided that instead of painting the walls, we would go with it.  We purchased new couches in a light beige and I think the colors really work.  I try to switch out the pillows to go with each season.  I think it adds an extra pop of festive color.

The mantle area is my favorite part of our living room.  When we were looking for houses, a must on the list was a fireplace.  It's my favorite thing to decorate for holidays and I love having a fireplace as a focal point.  I found this neutral, glittery leaf garland at HomeGoods last year and I love how pretty and subtle it is.  I found these adorable pumpkin lights from Marshall's that I added as well.  Then I added some glitter pumpkins I got from HomeGoods randomly through the vignette.  The pumpkin patch sign was only $4 from HomeGoods!  How could I turn that down!  Plus, I think it adds a little extra color to the mantle which I love.  Finally I added some more glitter pumpkins again from HomeGoods (are you noticing a trend here?  I love glitter and HomeGoods- HA!) on top of my mercury glass candle sticks and a burlap print from Hobby Lobby and I love how it turned out!  I switched out this mantle numerous times before I found what I liked best.  I had some adorable pennant banners I had gotten from the Target $1 spot but I just couldn't get them to look right.  Below the mantle, I found an adorable rustic, wooden box that I keep my favorite, soft blanket and some adorable pillows from the Target $1 spot.

For the rest of the living room, I added random pops of fall wherever I could without it looking cluttered.  First, let me brag for a second on my handy hubby.  He built this console table for me!  I couldn't find anything that I like that was at a decent price so I looked to Pinterest to find plans on one to make.  Here are the plans here: http://ana-white.com/2012/08/plans/55-fancy-x-desk

To decorate the console table, I wanted to add a lot of fall-themed decor but I didn't want it to be too much.  To start, I have my light up pumpkin from Hobby Lobby.  I added a giant glittery burlap flower to it and I love how it looks.  You can ask my husband, it's literally my favorite fall decoration.  I have it lit up almost constantly.  It's just so bright and cheery!  I love it :)  I added my neutral pumpkins from Michael's, some fall-themed signs and a few more nicknacks and it was complete!  I love how it turned out.  My lamp from World Market is even pumpkin shaped!  (I didn't even plan it, but hey, it works!)

We're still working on all finding the best way to hide all the cords.  They are driving my nuts but from most angles you can't see them.  I just know they are there...
For the kitchen, the fall decor is a lot more minimal.  I switched out the dish towels on the oven with a fall-themed ones, added this fabulous metal, marquee pumpkin from Hobby Lobby, switched out the table runner and put out some apple-scented candles (my favorite!).  I just purchased this fabulous three-tiered wooden stand from HomeGoods a few weeks ago and am still working on styling it!  I'll post a picture on Instagram once I decorate it!  If you have any pictures for inspiration, send them my way!

Anyway, that's it!  I hope you enjoyed it and can use some of these pictures as inspiration in your own fall decorating!  Happy Fall!  Before you know it, we'll be decorating for Christmas!  I can't wait! I apologize for the quality of some of the pictures.  They were taken on my iPhone but I'm in the process of finding a nice camera.  Any recommendations or suggestions are welcome! :)

Thanks for stopping by!
